Oh my! This is a good one. Got milk? Your going to need it with this one! This is the best chocolate sheet cake ever, it's so moist, and has a just enough sweet icing. One thing you have to know is, this is pure lovely chocolate, with other ingredients. Hardy har har. (sorry) Man. This is good, Did I mention this is EXTREMELY good? Another thing you have to know, this is big! But let not your heart be troubled, it won't be sitting on your counter for long!
First, mix together 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Easy enough.
Then, in a saucepan, melt 2 sticks of butter, yes 2. Then add 4 heaping tablespoons of cocoa. Add 1 cup boiling water and let boil for 30 sec.
Then add it to the flour mixture. As you can see I am using a glass bowl, (Stupid me!) and I was crossing my fingers it would not crack.
Then beet a couple of eggs, and add it to 1/2 cup buttermilk, as well as 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Add it to the chocolate yummieness, and stir to combined. Pour into a 18x13 sheet cake pan. Told you it was big. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
Now for the icing:
Melt 1 and 3/4 cups butter in the same saucepan we used earlier.
Then add another 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa. Just like last time! But then you add 6 tablespoons milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 POUND (minus 1/2 cup) powdered sugar. Yum! Pour it over WARM cake. You must eat this warm, and if you don't, I'll spank you.
Your going to have to get used to hearing moans and groans when your family comes back every day to get another piece. You can also add chopped pecans, you can mix them in the batter, or sprinkle them on top! Oh by the way, sorry I didn't have pictures icing the cake, the batteries in my camera died (Darn!). Now, relax and sloowwly sink your teeth into the most beautiful tasting cake in the world.
